Why are shoes squeaking?

category: bostonian shoes
by Kim Shane,

My husband’s Bostonian leather dress shoes "squeak" when he walks on certain floors. Niether of us can tell if it is the soles (rubber) or the leather itself? Any ideas? Can anything be done to prevent it? Thanks for any feedback!

Sometimes shoes squeak when they are wet from the friction between the rubber and the floor coating. Sometimes, there is just the shoe coating or floor coating that causes that squeak sound. Eventually, either way, it goes away.
